ALBUQUERQUE COMIC CON POST

ACC 2012 was a huge success. Thousands of attendees and hundreds of exhibitors had a great time at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. There was a wide range of vendors, artists, events and celebrities in all comic, horror, sci-fi and anime genres. This event seems to be getting bigger and bigger... which is awesome for Albuquerque!

Our booth did very well this year. We sold lots of posters and t-shirts...and got to visit with local fans, actors and cosplayers!

We're already locked in, and will have a table in Artist Alley at ACE 2012... this summer at the ABQ Convention Center. It's in June, so I better get busy!

ALBUQUERQUE COMIC CON

Albuquerque Comic Con is right around the corner. I will have a table in Artist Alley... and will be selling screen printed posters, t-shirts and a couple of art prints. Come by and get yourself a freshly printed Night of the Living Dead t-shirt, based on my new poster! Fellow artist Jeremy Montoya will be selling his posters too, along with some new paintings! NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD

"They're coming to get you Barbara" Needless to say, I am a huge George Romero "Dead" movie fanatic! I made this 3 color limited edition print for the 2012 Albuquerque Comic Con. Come by Artist Alley at the Con this weekend and pick up a poster... I'm in the process of making t-shirts too!

THE PORTER DRAW

This past weekend I printed my poster for Albuquerque based band, The Porter Draw. Their CD release party, for the new album "California Widow", will feature SuperGiant, Three String Bale and Mother Death Queen. The Porter Draw is an Americana band, with roots in bluegrass, country, and punk. I had a great experience working with them... and it's super awesome because they're from Albuquerque! DIA DE LOS MUERTOS

On October 30th, I participated in the Dia de los Muertos celebration at the South Broadway Cutural Center. The event was a mixture of art, live music, children's activities, food, vendors and most imporatntly... culture. There were well over 1,000 visitors that attended the gallery reception this year!

I was proud to hang my serigraph print (seen above) next to the work of such great local artists... including my very talented friends Jeremy Montoya, Albert Vasquez, John Bicknell and Lisa Rossignol.

Jeremy and I had a booth in the vendor area. We each designed and screen printed limited edition event posters. Along with the posters, we sold our new Muerto t-shirts and postcards...

We were also asked to participate in the juried alter contest. We created little muerto characters on wood blanks, using acrylic/mixed media... and dressed up our alter with screen printed streamers, flowers and art prints...

To our surprise... the Mexican Consulate of Albuquerque chose our alter for one of three awards given. Along with our award for "mas original alter" we received loaves of freshly baked pan dulce... delicious!!

THE ROCKY HORROR CAST

I was invited to the dress rehearsal performance of The Rocky Horror Show tonight. I delivered the cast poster I had made for the show. They really enjoyed them... happy Transylvanians! The show was amazing! A super talented cast, top notch set design and great music. Please check it out if you get a chance. (see theater info link in the post below)

THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW

UNM is putting on a production of The Rocky Horror Show this November. This show poster ia a 4 color limited edition of 30 for the cast, and 20 for the public. This is the first time I used two kinds of metallic inks in a poster; it was fun to make! For show ticket information click here

NM BREW FEST 2011

The 2nd Annual Brew Fest and Music Showcase is this weekend at Expo New Mexico. I was asked to do this design/poster for the event and the bands performing. You may have seen my beer maiden around town lately. I have printed a four color, limited edition of 50 posters for the event. They will also be doing live screen printing of my design on various t-shirts! Stop on by and pick up a poster or t-shirt... and...drink some great beer from local breweries! REVEREND HORTON HEAT

Reverend Horton Heat asked me to come up with concept art for their 2012 Tour. This is what I submitted... and they accepted it! I'm really stoked that the Rev's first stop in 2012 will be in my hometown, ABQ. Look for it in your local city in next year!

NMSU PROJECT POSTCARD

Myself, along with other alumni artists, were featured at New Mexico State University’s 2011 Project: Postcard. The two-day exhibit, held September 9-10, was a fundraiser to support the Visiting Artist and Scholar Program. We had a great weekend reconnecting with old friends and professors!
